Members of FIFCA and the wider business community combined on the 14th of July to raise awareness of the work the Seafarers Mission in Stanley carries out within the community on behalf of the people of the Falkland Islands. It was a fun-filled day out for all the family and despite the weather there was a huge turnout from the community all coming along to support and gain a deeper insight into the work that the staff from the Mission carry out.
FIFCA members and non-industry businesses gave generously for a raffle on the day with ticket sales exceeding £3700.00. In addition, there was a mid-winter BBQ using meat that was generously donated by Falkland Island Meat Company, FIMCo), and you could even taste some of the fish that had kindly been donated by Argos and CFL. Donations were received on the day for the food. £5990.90 was raised in total making the day a huge success. All of the proceeds being donated to the Lighthouse Seafarers Mission. Members of FIFCA in particular were proud to support this event as it highlighted to both Maurice and Debbie Lake how highly the work they carry out is valued not just to those involved in Seafaring industries, but to the wider community as a whole.
