FIOGA Receives Further Support
Falklands fishing company Fortuna Ltd has continued its support to FIOGA to assist with sports activity overseas.
Three big events take place in July this year, the Island Games in Gibraltar, the World Shearing Championships in France and the 150th Anniversary Shoot at Bisley. FIOGA is providing financial support to all clubs involved in these events, to assist with the substantial cost of preparations and taking part.
Fortuna Ltd General Manager Michael Poole commented:
“Fortuna Ltd are pleased to donate this £5,000 to FIOGA. The work FIOGA do in coordinating sport in the Islands is very impressive and we recognise how financially challenging it is for people to travel overseas to represent the Islands. We are therefore pleased to play our small part in assisting with funding the team going to the 2019 Island Games. We wish all of the competitors and associated staff well in Gibraltar later in year”.
FIOGA Chairman Mike Summers has said that the continuing support of local companies has been instrumental in our being able to send competitive teams to these events. Several companies from the fishing, retail and service industries have provided us with the financial support which enables us to supplement the fundraising efforts of clubs and individuals.
The Island Games in Gibraltar will be covered by the Penguin News, FITV and Falklands Radio.
