CFL Turns 30

CFL celebrate in style!

Consolidated Fisheries Ltd (CFL) celebrated 30 years since the company was formed in style with live music and dancing over two nights on 8th and 9th March.

Formed by local companies and private investors on 8th March 1994, CFL is a 100% Falklands owned business operating the Toothfish fishery in Falklands waters.

CFL is proud of its world-class product, investment in research, maintaining a sustainable fishery and, also, its position within the community.

With the latter in mind, the idea to extend the invitation to celebrate to the community was born; arrangements were made to bring the CFL Hunter in so the crew could take part and the hunt for suitable musicians to take on such a party began.

Pat Winn, former RAF who had made three tours of the Falklands and been at the heart of the local music scene was keen to return and handpicked fellow musicians from the Western Star recording label to create a band that would not only hit the right note with Falklands country music lovers, but would also appreciate the opportunity to visit the Falklands. He was bang on key as always!

The Buffalo Billies were the wild cards, but they had the crowd in the palm of their hands from the first ‘howdy Stanley’ and created audience participation rarely seen in the Falklands!

Both nights were full of fun and energy and it was great to see the CFL Hunter crew whole-heartedly joining in the celebration.
