In an announcement made by the Falkland Islands Overseas Games Association,(FIOGA), FIFCA member Argos Group has agreed to sponsor the Falklands Islands teams at the XVIII Natwest Islands games taking place in Gibraltar next July,(2019).
Argos Group has long been and supporter and advocate for sports development within the Islands and have strong ties business to Gibraltar. Director Sheila Stewart said that it would be a pleasure to sponsor FIOGA for these games, given those ties. This will be the second time that Gibraltar has hosted the games, the first being in 1995.
It is anticipated that the donation could be worth well in excess of £30,000, and this will cover the costs of those in full time education, those selected to represent the Islands and the team kit.
Events that the Falkland Islands are considering competing in are, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Shooting, Squash, Shooting and Triathlon.
